Associate Dean Transition

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that John Schneider, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has accepted the position of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Student Services in CEA, effective January 1, 2014.

John joined the School of EECS in 1989. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Washington. During his time at WSU, he has received an ONR Young Investigator Award, been named an IEEE Fellow, and has been both the EECS Researcher of the Year, as well as the EECS Teacher of the Year. He teaches both electrical engineering and computer science courses, and has recently revamped his undergraduate courses to utilize new technologies that engage students in multiple ways in an effort to improve learning outcomes, retention, and work-readiness. John also has extensive ABET experience: he shepherded EECS through three accreditation visits, which involved 6 team visits, and 12 degree programs.

John will take over from Bob Olsen, who is returning to a faculty position (and hoping to spend more time in his very new role of grandfather!). Please join me in welcoming John to this new role!
