This week we have two major events, both this Thursday afternoon, April 9. I hope you will take some time out of your busy schedules and participate in either or both of these events.
- The Lanning Lecture will take place at 2:10 p.m. in Wegner Hall G50. This year’s Lanning Lecturer is Dr. Enrique Iglesia, the Theodore Vermeulen Chair in Chemical Engineering at the University of California in Berkeley and also a faculty senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as well as the director of the Berkeley Catalysis Laboratory. Please join us for a reception beginning at 1:30 in Wegner 105C before the lecture. Dr. Iglesia’s lecture is entitled “Nanoparticles, Nanospaces, and the Catalysis Toolbox.” It promises to be a stimulating lecture. For those who cannot attend, the lecture will be recorded and available from the college website at a later date.
- This is also the time of year when we have an opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievements by our own students, faculty and staff at the Annual Voiland College Convocation. This event will start at 3:30 p.m. in the Lewis Alumni Center. There will be a reception afterward. Please come to the Convocation at the Alumni Center and congratulate our students and colleagues for their exceptional contributions this past year!
