Frequently Asked Questions

Career Fairs Frequently Asked Questions

How can I attend the career fair this fall?

Register for the WSU Career Expo and VCEA Technical Fair on Handshake.  The fall 2022 fair is a hybrid event with a virtual fair on Handshake, 2-6 p.m., Monday, October 3 and an in-person fair in Beasley Coliseum, 12-4 p.m., Tuesday, October 4.

What browser should I use to connect?

Google Chrome is the recommended browser. Make sure you allow pop-ups.

What is the cut off time for registering for events?

Students can register for the events until the start time on the day of the event.

What do I do when I enter a virtual appointment/meeting?

The virtual fair will take place in Handshake. Students will arrange their meeting schedule in advance of the day.  The virtual fair is not intended to be an interview, but rather to serve as an initial meeting like at an in-person event. Employers and students will be able to screen share and share materials.

What should I wear?

Dress professionally. ASCC has a Career Cougar Closet where you can get professional clothing, if needed.

Why Should Freshmen Attend the Career Expo and Technical Fair?

The Career Fair is your gateway to your future career and it’s important you start building your professional network in your freshman year by attending the fair. Attend the virtual fair to learn more about a company or meet with representatives in-person in Beasley Coliseum. Company representatives will answer your questions about careers in the industry, what the company looks for in an intern, whether or not they hire interns who are just starting their educational career, or any other question you might have about the company or the industry. Keep in mind that 80 percent of jobs happen because of networking and the career fair is the best place to start building your network.

Check out this article from LinkedIn for more reasons why freshmen should attend the career fair.

What happens if I have audio/video troubles?

In case you get cut off or audio/video doesn’t work, make sure you get the recruiter’s contact email so you can share your materials (resume, LinkedIn link, etc.).

Where can I go if I need assistance during the fair?

Please visit the ACSS Troubleshooting page for assistance before or during the fair.
