VCEA Updates

Dear Colleagues,

Congratulations to all of our faculty, staff, and students who were honored at this year’s convocation, which was held earlier this month at the Lewis Alumni Centre. It’s always a joyful event as we annually celebrate the truly outstanding work that you all do.

The college-wide awards this year went to the following recipients:

  • Outstanding Students Devin Marcy, Parot Victor Charoonsophonsak, and Sydnee Dieckman
  • Outstanding Teaching Assistant Sahar Vahabzadeh
  • Outstanding Staff members Vasiliy Bunakov, Suzanne Hamada, and Pam Loughlin
  • Outstanding Faculty members Timothy Hanshaw, Bob Richards, and Hussein Zbib

I hope you will take a few moments to congratulate your colleagues and students for their success.

As you all know, it has been a whirlwind year as our college continues to grow and thrive. As we have grown so rapidly in recent years, we want to be sure to keep you informed about how you all fit into our efforts. With that in mind, we have finalized the policy document on faculty roles and responsibilities. You can view the faculty responsibilities document here. I know that you all are working very hard to balance your research, teaching, and service roles. This document is not intended for tenure and promotion requirements, but rather I hope it provides clarification and guidance about how you balance your workload. Whether you are more focused on teaching or research, you provide great value to our college, and we want to be sure that your strengths and skills are best utilized and appreciated.

Finally, we are pleased to let you know that we are finalizing the college’s strategic plan. Again, you can view the strategic plan document here. We greatly appreciate the input and comments that we have received so far and hope that we can incorporate your suggestions as well! We aim to finalize this document by Commencement, so, if you have any additional comments, please do send a note in the space provided on the webpage. It’s exciting that we’re getting close to being done on this effort to map out our college’s future. I thank all of you who put so much work into this. I believe it lights the way for promising and exciting years ahead.

Please feel free to contact me, too, with your feedback about these documents, or other questions or concerns.

Thank you for all you do for the Voiland College.

Sincerely,
