For his contributions to the understanding of atmospheric chemistry and his work to develop the field of industrial ecology, Thomas Graedel will receive the 2019 Regents’ Distinguished Alumnus Award, Washington State University’s highest alumni honor.

Researchers from WSU’s Composite Materials and Engineering Center are assisting the Composites Recycling Technology Center in Port Angeles to produce construction‑grade cross‑laminated timber.

Associate Professor Ayad Rahmani’s architecture students will compete for the chance to design a boarding school in Malawi, Africa.

Helen Catanese, graduate student of Assefaw Gebremedhin, won the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Board of Mathematical Sciences and Analytics’ Elevating Math Video Competition!

Paige Danielson was named WSU Athletics Academic Services’ Student-Athlete of the Month.

Melisa Ates and Michaela Bayerlova are featured on the Voiland College home page.

Samantha Gridrod and Rachel Johnson promoted Kids’ Science and Engineering Day in the Daily Evergreen.

WSU Alert Test – 11:45 Today

The WSU Office of Emergency Management will be conducting the spring semester test of the WSU Alert system on the Pullman campus Tuesday, March 5 at 11:45 am.

Three Minute Thesis Thursday

Don’t miss VCEA’s Three Minute Thesis competition on Thursday, March 7 from 2-3 pm in ETRL 101. Three-Minute Thesis is a research communication competition challenging Ph.D. students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in three minutes or less to a non-technical audience.

NSF Opportunities

Stephanie Hampton, division director for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Division of Environmental Biology (DEB), will give a talk entitled, “Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Sciences – Opportunities at the National Science Foundation,” on Thursday, March 28, at 1:30 pm in PACCAR 202.

WSU to Host Hands-On Relay School During Spring Break

The events will be held in Todd Hall and the Engineering complex. The conference participants will be parking near Smith CUE on Monday and Tuesday morning and near EE/ME and Sloan on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Thursday.

Suicide Prevention Training March 7, April 9

Campus Connect is an evidence-based suicide prevention training program, offered free of charge for WSU staff and students.

Participants learn:

  • How to ask if someone is feeling suicidal
  • Appropriate referrals
  • Active listening, communication and relationship-building skills

Preregistration is required and course seating is limited. Register online.
