Mehrzad Mehrabi pour received the Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship from WTS Puget Sound Chapter.

Yong Wang was interviewed by the Daily Evergreen. Wang helped to develop a catalyst used in vehicle exhaust emissions that can withstand high temperatures and reduce pollutants at low temperatures.

Min-Kyu Song received The Graduate & Professional Student Association’s Academic Advisor Excellence Award.

George Bonheyo’s research on biofouling – the leading cause of aquatic invasive species transport – was featured by PNNL.

Interior design student Keyaira Mumford won the NEWH Green Voice Design Competition.

Stephany Lamas will spend the summer advocating for migrant farmworkers as part of a prestigious congressional internship.

Mental Health First Aid April 30 + May 2

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training that teaches skills to help someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis. The training costs $40 per participant; It is free for WSU Pullman students with support from student activity fees.

The next Mental Health First Aid event is Tuesday, April 30, 3:30pm – 8pm AND Thursday, May 2, 3:30pm – 8pm. Both dates must be attended.

Participants learn about symptoms, crisis response, and active listening skills to support many disorders:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Psychosis
  • Eating disorders
  • Substance abuse

Preregistration is required and course seating is limited. Preregister online.

Student Opportunities

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships

The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program is accepting applications for the Fall 2019 term. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. They perform research, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects supporting the DOE mission. Applications are due May 29.
