Voiland College’s online graduate engineering program was ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Larry Holder was interviewed by the Daily Evergreen in an article about WSU is developing an IQ test with different problems to determine an AI’s ability to perform multiple tasks.

Facility, Operations & Safety Services (FOSS) launched a new web page. FOSS assists the VCEA faculty, staff, students and guests with their facility and safety needs, with services that include safety assessments, space alterations, and facility planning.

Nairanjana “Jan” Dasgupta has been named director of WSU’s Program in Data Analytics.

VCEA Staff Excellence Awards – Nominations due March 6

It is time to submit nominations for the VCEA Staff Excellence Awards! VCEA staff and faculty received their nominations forms this week from Chris Gass. Please scan the form electronically and email it back to chrisgass@wsu.edu by March 6.

WSU I-Corps

Apply for WSU’s I-Corps entrepreneurship program to earn $2,500 to turn your idea to reality! WSU I-Corps participants will attend weekly sessions in which the teams, directors, and mentors will develop and refine their business models, discuss lessons learned, and prepare for further customer discovery. First session is Jan. 23.

Patents for Humanity – Apply by Jan. 31

Patents for Humanity is the US Patent and Trademark Office’s awards program for those using game-changing tech to address global challenges, reach under-served communities, and improve millions of lives. Apply here.

WSU Student Employee of the Year – Nominations due Feb. 15

This institution-wide contest looks at student employees who go above-and-beyond the basic expectations. Nominations are due Feb. 15.

Idaho National Laboratory Graduate Fellowship – Apply by Feb. 16

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is excited to announce that the INL Graduate Fellowship postings are now open. One is a fellowship awarded to Ph.D. students with interest in advancing nuclear energy and clean energy deployment. The other is specific to National and Homeland Security research and is for Ph.D. students or students pursuing a master’s degree in cyber security.

Applicants are invited to apply at through inl.gov/careers job posting numbers 13894 and 13895. The postings will close Feb. 16, 2020. Letters of recommendation can be emailed directly to emilee.kottcamp-allen@inl.gov.

Student Care Network

WSU’s Student Care Network is dedicated to supporting student success across the system through early intervention. Each WSU location has access to a Student Care Team comprised of professionals who can recommend appropriate resources and services that can help students succeed.

If you have a concern about a student’s well-being, behavior, or academic performance, please submit it to your colleagues via the Student Care Network. We will contact you to gather additional information, talk about the situation, and identify next steps. Reports can also be submitted anonymously.
