Tech Troubleshooting Tips
Tips and tricks to help with the transition to online communication from VCEA IT Director Tony Burt:
- Run Windows 10 on Your Device: All VCEA faculty and staff can get Windows 10 on their home machines.
- How to Check Your Work Voice Mail Remotely: Call 509 335-6245. then hit the * button. Then, hit the last 5 digits of your work phone number, followed by #. Then, enter your password. Have you updated your voice mail?
- WSU Softphone: WSU Central IT is waiving the fees for folks to have their WSU number added as a soft phone. A softphone (or SIP) redirects your WSU phone number to any SIP client (software app on your computer or smart phone). This will be very valuable so that you do not have to publish your cell phone number or return calls from your cell number. You can use an app, such as Google Voice, to receive or make calls. They will all come to / from your WSU number. If you would like to have this feature, we need to collect your information and submit it to Central IT. Please send an email to vcea@wsu.edu with the subject line SIP PHONE REQUEST. Please include your information: WSU Phone #, Name, WSU Network ID (NID), Email address Example: 509-335-1157, Tony Burt, tony.burt, tony.burt@wsu.edu.
