11 AM MME Seminar: “Design of Soft Robots: Smart Actuation and Controlled Motion” w/ Venkatsubramanian Kalpathy Venkiteswaran, University of Twente.

Tuesdays and Fridays, thru May 15

Voiland College Stress Relief and Mindfulness Sessions. Learn the basic practices of mindfulness-based stress reduction and practice several different techniques to support your well-being including mindfulness of breathing, body scan meditation, and self-compassion. Each session will introduce one of the techniques and provide an opportunity for practice. Presented by Dr. Cill Richards, MME Professor, Certified Mindfulness Trainer, and UREC Group Fitness Instructor.

Ehdieh Khaledian received a GPSA Dissertation Grant.

Grant Esomonu, Stasia Kulsa, Micheal Roper, Keiran Sinthavong, Manu Thomas, Ayumi Manawadu, Ashley Vu, and the Society of Women Engineers- Everett were among the 2020 President’s Award for Leadership recipients.

Mechanical engineering student Wade Cappa’s GreenSky Team won First Place and $10,000 in the BECU Traditional Business Category at the 2020 Northwest Entrepreneur Competition.

A WSU research team led by Nick Engdahl is working prevent culverts from becoming fish migration barriers.

Adam Hahn helped Dr. Universe explain how the Internet works.

The Cougs in Space student club’s efforts to launch a satellite in October were highlighted in the Daily Evergreen.

Student Support

ASWSU Grocery Reimbursement

The ASWSU Grocery Reimbursement program reimburses WSU students up to 50% of their qualified grocery costs at Pullman’s Dissmore’s, Safeway, and Walmart stores. Fill out the form in the link above to apply.

Grad Student Professional Development

The Versatile PhD is a web-based, socially positive business that helps graduate students with non-academic professional development. Their mission is to help graduate students envision, prepare for, and excel in non-academic careers. Sign in with your WSU network ID and password!

Free Tutoring Available

Voiland College tutors are available via Zoom. VCEA Tutoring Services is available for students using the same schedule as before. Students can search the schedule by subject, class number, day of the week, or tutor. Then, they can enter the tutor’s zoom room during the tutor’s shift by clicking on the words “click here” under the tutor’s name.

If they chose, faculty members can add a link to their Blackboard class space(s) to the tutoring schedule for student convenience.

Tutoring Services is also available for workshops, to support faculty for recitations, and other services. Students and faculty members who would like to request support can contact Becky Dueben at rdueben@wsu.edu or 509 336 9417.
