Go Cougs!

A WSU team, led by Omar Al-Hassawi, received a 3-year, $750,000 grant to develop a curriculum for building science certificates and a degree focused on energy-efficient housing.

Abdelrhman Mohamed and Haluk Beyenal were featured in WIRED Magazine for their research that measures the health of soil by measuring electric currents produced by microbes.

Computer Science Ph.D. student Syrine Belakaria was selected as one of the Rising Stars in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science by MIT, whose goal is to identify and mentor outstanding candidates interested in pursuing academic careers.

School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering Seminar Series presented by Dr. David Hu:
An elephant eats 200 kg per day, or the equivalent of 200 grams every minute. How does an elephant feed so quickly? We present experiments with African elephants at the Atlanta Zoo and dissections of elephant trunks at the Smithsonian Institution.

Survey Seeks to Determine AP Employee Needs

Administrative professional employees throughout the WSU system will be receiving a survey in the coming days intended to help guide services and advocacy efforts on their behalf.

Intro to Kamiak High-Performance Computing – October 5 @10:10 AM

CIRC will host a hands-on introductory workshop introducing basic HPC concepts and teaching users to submit jobs to an HPC. Learn to utilize freely available computing resources on WSU’s Kamiak HPC to power your research!

Registration: This course is free to attend and will be conducted over Zoom, but space is limited, so attendees must register in advance.

Sign-ups close on 10/1, register in advance for connection details.
