I hope you had a fun and restful summer and are excited about the upcoming school year. Welcome, especially, to our new faculty and staff who are joining the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. We have an exciting year ahead!
As we continue our preparations for fall semester, I want to share some resources and upcoming events that can help guide you through your course design and your interactions with your students this year.
Academic Policies
If you haven’t already, please carefully review the July 25 “Reminders of Key Academic Policies” that was sent from the WSU Provost and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Chilton and the August 4 “WSU FERPA Compliance Guidelines” that was sent from the WSU Vice Provost Bill Davis. Some key elements of university policies that are important to review before the start of the semester are course syllabus required elements; additional information about the required policy statements; important reminders; and academic policy reminders pertaining to courses.
New This Year
Lauren’s Promise – I will listen and believe you if someone is threatening you.
Please familiarize yourself with this policy found on pages 8-9. At a minimum, syllabi must include a “short form” paragraph regarding safety and emergency notifications. The “long form” is recommended.
