Strategic Plan, Space, and End of the Year

Graduation is here, students have (hopefully!) finished their projects, and our academic year is quickly coming to a close. As promised, we have finalized the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture (VCEA) Strategic Plan for 2015-2020.

VCEA Updates

Congratulations to all of our faculty, staff, and students who were honored at this year’s convocation, which was held earlier this month at the Lewis Alumni Centre. It’s always a joyful event as we annually celebrate the truly outstanding work that you all do.

Resources for WSU’s Healthy and Safe Environment

We are well into spring and the end of the semester is near – yet the upcoming end-of-year finals can be a stressful time for everyone.

I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of WSU’s commitment to ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

Candlelight Walk Tonight in Memory of Dina Williamson

We’re saddened to share the news that Dina Williamson, one of our architecture graduate students, died tragically in a car accident over the past weekend. Our hearts are with her family as well as with her friends and colleagues in the School of Design and Construction as they struggle with the tragic loss of a young woman who had such a bright future. Dina was part of our close-knit, supportive community in the School of Design and Construction and the Voiland College, and such a tragedy is felt by all of us.

Lanning Lecture and Convocation

This week we have two major events, both this Thursday afternoon, April 9. I hope you will take some time out of your busy schedules and participate in either or both of these events.

An Introduction for VCEA’s New Marketing / Communications Manager

I think everyone will agree that there are a lot of great things to say about what is happening at the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture right now. That’s why we recently hired a new Marketing/Communications Manager, Brett Stav, to oversee and coordinate communications and marketing efforts for VCEA.

Sad News

We are very sad to share the recent news that Jon Grimes passed away. Jon was a longtime employee in the Voiland College shops, and served as the engineering technician supervisor. Over the years, he and his wife, Charlena, who was senior academic coordinator in the college, were generous supporters of WSU and of students in our college.

Draft Strategic Plan is Now on VCEA Website

As many of you know, we’ve been working for some time on updating the Voiland College strategic plan. I’ve met with all faculty members in Pullman through your departmental or school faculty meetings, and will be meeting those of you in Vancouver and in Tri-Cities over the next few weeks.
