Safety Training Reminder

Thanks to all of you who have already taken our required Voiland College safety training. We are pleased that so many of you have already taken these online courses. Safe conditions and procedures in our laboratories and classrooms are paramount for our students, faculty, and staff, and we are pleased to be taking these positive steps in building a stronger safety culture around the college.

Supporting Faculty Research

As we know, research is one of the biggest drivers of our economy and Washington State University’s Drive to 25 initiative.

Voiland College has seen steady growth in our research expenditures, which now exceed $33 million a year. Based on our analysis, however, we have both the capacity and the need to grow our research portfolio much further in order to reach the university’s Drive to 25 goals.

New Safety Training for All Voiland College Employees

As you know, safe conditions and procedures in our laboratories and classrooms are paramount for our students, faculty, and staff in the Voiland College.

I am pleased that we have been taking a number of positive steps in recent months to build a strong culture of safety around the college and to encourage proper safety procedures, especially in our laboratories.

Welcome Back – Spring 2019

Welcome back, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful break and had the opportunity to unwind and spend time with friends and family.

I can’t believe 2019 is here already. Fall semester sure went by in a blur! It began with record enrollment in our college- more than 5,000 undergraduate and 1400 post-graduate students enrolled in our five campuses for the first time in our history.

New Voiland College Faculty Advisory Council

I want to thank everyone for the tremendous turnout at last month’s VCEA Town Hall. As many of know, communication is a major cornerstone in my role as dean of the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. I highly value information sharing and look forward to receiving viewpoints during my dialogues with the college’s leadership, students, staff, and faculty, as those conversations help inform the critical decisions we make as we move towards achieving our objectives and the University’s Drive to 25 goals.

Voiland College Budget Update – August 28, 2018

As we begin a new school year, I would like to give you an update on where we are with addressing Voiland College’s budget gap.

As many of you know, WSU President Schulz has made improving WSU’s fiscal health a major priority of his administration, and it is one of mine, too.

Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct Prevention – Mandatory Training

WSU is committed to being an institution that demonstrates trust and respect for all persons and cultivates individual and institutional integrity in all that we do. All Washington State University employees are required to complete discrimination and sexual harassment prevention training. New employees must complete this training within six months of the date of hire, and the course must be completed every five years.

Please Welcome Our New Associate Deans

I am pleased to announce the appointments of Associate Professor Krishnamoorthy Sivakumar as Voiland College’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Associate Research Professor Shelley Pressley as Voiland College’s Associate Dean of Student Services.
