Noel Schulz has been appointed to the Bob Ferguson Endowed Professorship at Washington State University Tri-Cities.

The US Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management featured a story about a WSU student engineering team that recently partnered with engineers at the Hanford Site’s Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant for their senior projects.

A team led by Jinwen Zhang won a Phase I prize in the DOE Wind Turbine Materials Recycling competition for their project “Continuous Chemical Recycling at Ambient Pressure.”

Anamika Dubey has been appointed co-director of the Washington State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Advanced Grid Institute.

Co-led by Voiland College’s Jin Liu and Prashanta Dutta, as well as Anthony Nicola at the College of Veterinary Medicine, WSU researchers received a four-year $1.2 million grant funded by the National Institutes of Health to study virus-cell interactions at the moment a virus merges with a cell to initiate an infection – a process known as virus fusion.

Zhipeng Li has been recognized with the Milton Pikarsky Award for the best dissertation in the field of science and technology in transportation studies.

Deukhyuon Heo, Frank Brands Analog Distinguished Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Mona Ghandi’s project, “Stomata: Optimizing Building Energy Retrofits Through Cyber-Physical Adaptive Spaces, Artificial Intelligence, and Occupants’ Biosignals” is the winner of the 2023 Design Educates Awards and received the Gold Prize in Responsive Design. Her project, “Parasympathy: A Space of Empathy and Active Compassion” received the Bronze Prize in Responsive Design.
