{"id":11301,"date":"2026-04-21T08:19:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T15:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/faculty-staff\/?p=11301"},"modified":"2026-04-27T09:23:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:23:38","slug":"apr-21-2026-voiland-college-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/faculty-staff\/2026\/04\/21\/apr-21-2026-voiland-college-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Apr. 21, 2026 Voiland College This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Go Cougs !<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Voiland College<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.wsu.edu\/news\/2026\/04\/20\/voiland-college-names-2026-outstanding-students\/\">recognized outstanding students<\/a>\u00a0at its annual convocation ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers&nbsp;led by&nbsp;<strong>Parteek Kumar<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.wsu.edu\/news\/2026\/04\/14\/nvidia-grant-will-support-ai-for-teaching-and-learning\/\">received a grant through the artificial intelligence company, Nvidia<\/a>,&nbsp;to develop an AI-driven framework to support teaching and learning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Twelve students<\/strong>&nbsp;received&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.wsu.edu\/news\/2026\/04\/17\/twelve-wsu-students-named-ieee-power-energy-society-scholars\/\">the 2025\u201326 Power &amp; Energy Society (PES)\u202fScholarship Plus<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The\u00a0WSU ASCE\u00a0student chapter\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0surveying team\u00a0placed\u00a0second overall at\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXUpdbLmbfm\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\">ASCE PNW Student Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The WSU ASCE student chapter\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;concrete&nbsp;canoe team&nbsp;placed fifth&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXUo2dQGcLr\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\">ASCE PNW Student Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mechanical engineering student&nbsp;<strong>Layla Lumzer<\/strong>&nbsp;is featured in&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/sponsored\/a-positive-reactor-experience\/?utm_source=RSS&amp;utm_medium=Referral&amp;utm_campaign=RSS_all\">WSU Delivers&nbsp;advertising campaign<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anamika Dubey<\/strong>&nbsp;talked with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=h5udbTL3FsU\">Seattle&#8217;s Fox13 News<\/a>&nbsp;regarding the impact and burden of data centers on the electric power grid.\u202f&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VCEA Attention Grabbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alexandra Lehman-Chong &amp; Malena Braatne-Millstein<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Dan Cronan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gary Offerdahl<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jess Cross<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Lisa Carmack<\/strong> received\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/faculty-staff\/attention-grabbers\/\">recognition from their colleagues<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wsu.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_1HvzIixWwhr9nsq\">Nominate a Voiland College peer<\/a> who has gone above and beyond in their work to create a positive culture!
