{"id":2737,"date":"2019-07-09T15:45:38","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T22:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/foss\/?page_id=2737"},"modified":"2025-03-25T11:57:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T18:57:04","slug":"campus-closures-and-outages","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/foss\/campus-closures-and-outages\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Closures and Outages"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading wsu-spacing-before--xxmedium\" id=\"outage\">General Outage Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WSU Facilities Services maintains and supports all WSU buildings in Pullman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a service that requires maintenance or repair, Facilities Services will categorize it by urgency and added to the appropriate repair\/renewal list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outages, active water leaks, utility disruptions, elevator failures, and hazards in pedestrian areas are prioritized first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If an outage needs to occur, as required for the repair\/maintenance of a service, an outage notice will be sent to those that have subscribed to receive facility notices (instructions below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the timing of the planned outage would cause significant impact, Facilities Services will attempt to reschedule the outage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to <strong>request a planned outage be rescheduled<\/strong> please respond directly to the outage notice, or call <a href=\"tel:5093359000\">509-335-9000<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In event of an unplanned outage, outage notices may be delayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In event of emergency dial <a href=\"tel:911\">911<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"powerloss\">In Event of Power Loss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please exercise caution in your emergency preparation planning around a power failure.<br>A power failure is one of the most likely emergency situations to occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the event of a power failure, very few WSU buildings will have backup power. Paccar Environmental Technology Building is currently the only engineering building with limited backup power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the power goes out, <strong>power outlets do not work, hoods do not work, the air systems shut down, and elevators halt.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only systems that consistently work in a power failure are emergency lights, fire alarms, and emergency fire sprinklers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"itoutage\">Information Technology Outage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is an IT outage, such as email, phone, or networking disruption please contact Voiland College IT at <a href=\"tel:5093356773\">509-335-6773<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:support@wsu.edu\">support@wsu.edu<\/a>. You can also contact WSU ITS at <a href=\"tel:509335help\">509-335-HELP<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:cougtech@wsu.edu\">cougtech@wsu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"closure\">Campus Delay or Closure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a campus delay or closure, weather alert, or campus safety event taking place, information will be posted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/alert.wsu.edu\/\">WSU Safety Alert Website<\/a>. You can sign up to receive phone and text message alerts within the <a href=\"https:\/\/my.wsu.edu\">myWSU portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"utility\">Utility Service Outage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a utility service outage (such as water, power, gas, or other) please call Facilities Operations at <a href=\"tel:5093359000\">509-335-9000<\/a>. Please also alert the VCEA Facilities Director at <a href=\"tel:5093353783\">509-335-3783<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:drussell@wsu.edu\">drussell@wsu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-decorator wsu-spacing-after--none wsu-zindex--level-7 wsu-decorator--style-block-crimson-light\" style=\"left:5%;height:10px;width:90%\"><\/div>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section wsu-width--full wsu-spacing-before--none wsu-spacing-after--none\"  >\r\n    <div class=\"wsu-section__inner wsu-width--content\">    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"subscribe\">Subscribe to Receive Facility Outage Notices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to get updates on facility outages, such as disruptions to elevators, water, power, steam, etc, you can sign up at the <a href=\"https:\/\/myfacilities.wsu.edu\/default.aspx\">MyFacilities<\/a> web page. You will need to login with your WSU Network ID and password. Please be sure to select both types of notices &#8211; utilities and maintenance \u2013 outages can occur within both classifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the steps to help you navigate the MyFacilities site after logging in with your WSU Network ID and password: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Under the drop box options of the &#8220;Event Notifications&#8221;, click on &#8220;Notice Subscriptions&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After clicking &#8220;Notice Subscriptions&#8221;, you will notice three tabs on the top.
