<br>Theia Grady\t<\/h1>\r\n\t\t<\/header>\r\n\n\n\n<p>First-year electrical engineering student Theia Grady is a recipient of Voiland College\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/vcea.wsu.edu\/student-success\/scholarships\/\">Distinguished Dean&#8217;s Scholarship<\/a>, which provides full tuition and is renewable for up to four years, thanks to generous donor support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Theia shares her thoughts about her decision to attend WSU and what she is looking forward to in her first year of school.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\" wsu-overlap to attend WSU after visiting the Pullman campus last year. Learning about the opportunities and programs the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture provides, combined with the welcoming energy I felt on campus, I knew that WSU Pullman was the right place for me to pursue my education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-font-size--large\">What is your proposed major and why did you choose it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My proposed major is Electrical Engineering. I chose Electrical Engineering because I am interested in power systems and the involvement electrical engineering has in sustainable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-font-size--large\">How did you get interested in engineering?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My father is an ex-navy nuclear technician turned automotive mechanic. Growing up, I became interested in engineering by assisting him and learning about the role nuclear energy and electrical systems played on submarines. His guidance has inspired me to pursue my own path as an engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-font-size--large\">What does it mean to receive the Distinguished Dean&#8217;s Scholarship?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Receiving the Distinguished Dean\u2019s Scholarship means a lot to me and to the Curlew community. It showed me that I am not just representing myself but also everyone who has supported me along the way. To me, this marks the first of what I hope will be many successes here at WSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-font-size--large\">What are you most excited for in starting your studies at WSU?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As I begin my studies at WSU, I am excited to take on new challenges and push myself academically. Most of all, I can\u2019t wait to meet new people, get involved on campus, and to make the most of my first year in Pullman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-font-size--large\">Anything we should know about you that isn&#8217;t about engineering?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside of academics, I love playing volleyball, basketball, and softball.
