What made you decide to attend WSU?

I knew I wanted to be a programmer from an early age. By grade 4, I had built my first computer program, something I would continue to do throughout grade school. In high school, I became the recipient of the award for excellence in computer science. I visited WSU for the first time in my senior year of high school. As a shy teen emerging from the social bubble of the pandemic, I found WSU’s culture of community to be a breath of fresh air.

What clubs are you involved in on campus?

I became involved in lots of clubs during my time at WSU, from environmental advocacy to video game development to founding my own club on urbanism and city advocacy. These clubs taught me leadership skills and built out a social circle that I will retain for years to come.

Why would you recommend attending Washington State University?

WSU has helped me form a community from which I can rely on for future success. The university has brought me out of my shell and allowed me to thrive socially.

What advice do you have for fellow or prospective students?

In becoming a Coug, actively pursuing clubs and other on-campus activities is the best way to form your social circle and become part of the family. For computer science majors, I highly recommend using all the resources available such as the tutoring centers for assistance with classwork.

What do you want to do with your degree after you graduate?

After I graduate, I wish to pursue further studies in domain-specific artificial intelligence and machine learning systems for smart cities.
