What makes Washington State University’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture stand out from the crowd for those looking to get a degree?
We ask construction management major Valeria Yepez for her thoughts on what makes WSU such a special place.

What made you decide to attend WSU?
A previous professor I had is a big Coug and he recommened the Construction Management program in WSU during our Construction Trades Program in TriTech Tri-Cities. He was always very supportive and persuasive and when he saw I was interested in the construction industry, he pushed me into going for something bigger.
Have you participated in any internships related to your field of study?
I am currently in Seattle for an internship I received over the summer of 2025 with a construction company named PCL. Although it is just starting I am extremely excited for this new experince and I know I will learn a lot.
How have scholarships or financial aid impacted you as a student?
Receiving scholarships or financial aid have impacted me positively as I continue to pursue my studies in Construction Management at Washington State University in Pullman. Receiving awards means more than just financial assistance to me. It motivates me to work even harder and strive for excellence in my field. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and contributing positively to society in the future.
Why would you recommend attending Washington State University?
Yes I would recommend attending WSU, the biggest opportunity I have had aside from the great program I am in, is definitely the networking opportunities.
What advice do you have for fellow or prospective students?
The advice I would give to fellow or prospective students is “Just because it’s hard, does not mean you can’t do it, nobody said it would be easy. But you didn’t make it this far for nothing.”
