Why would you recommend attending Washington State University? How have you benefitted by attending WSU?

I would recommend attending WSU because there is something for everyone. There are so many different clubs, majors, activities, sports, etc. to get involved in no matter what year you are. I have gotten so many amazing opportunities since attending WSU that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

What advice do you have for fellow or prospective students? What can you recommend they do to succeed in your major?

If you are a looking to attend WSU for Interior Design, or any major for that matter, I would recommend joining a club on campus! There are so many amazing opportunities to be had and people to be met. Being a member and now the President of IDSA has been an incredible highlight to my college experience.

What clubs are you involved in on campus?

I am the current President of IDSA which is the Interior Design Student Association. This organization has impacted my professional development greatly! I have learned so much about the importance of time management and professional connections. Not to mention I have made so many new friends!

What has been your favorite class or program that you have been involved in at WSU and why?

My favorite program I have attended at WSU has hands down been the “Paris: a Designers View” study abroad trip I got to attend. It was an incredible and life-changing experience that I will never forget.

Going to Europe and seeing some of the most notable architecture and art in the world with a teacher there to explain its significance in real time was an experience that I will cherish forever.

Have you participated in any internships related to your field of study? If so, please share your experiences

I had the privilege of working for an interior design firm this summer and gained so much real life experience that will help me start my career tremendously.

I have gotten opportunities to work on renderings, draw sets, interior detail work, material selection, client communication, showroom visits with clients, site tours, and most importantly, an incredible mentorship opportunity.
