Partha Pande has been named interim dean for Washington State University’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture.
He replaces Mary Rezac, who recently stepped down to take a position as dean of the School of Engineering at University of Kansas.
A WSU faculty member since 2005, Pande has been director of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as well as the Boeing Centennial Chair in Computer Engineering.
Pande has authored or co-authored more than 150 papers in journals and conference proceedings, which have been cited more than 6,000 times. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has received a National Science Foundation Career award and the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture’s Outstanding Researcher Award. He conducts research in network-on-chip (NoC) technology, a state-of-the art communications method for manycore computer chips that could improve the energy efficiency of data centers and high-performance computing.
Pande holds a doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering from University of British Columbia, master’s degree in computer science from National University of Singapore and bachelor’s degree from University of Calcutta, India.
The university is conducting a national search for a permanent dean. Ananth Kalyanaraman has been named as interim director of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
