Student Success in 2023

Voiland College students enjoyed numerous successes through clubs, research experiences, and internships. In 2023, more than 900 students, one of the college’s largest classes ever, were able to walk across the stage to receive their degrees. New degree programs mean that they will be better trained to meet industry needs.

Making a Difference

Singing a new tune

When a startup company tasked a Washington State University student team with creating an India raga music app, the students had to start at the beginning: learning exactly what raga music is.

Igniting STEM interest

Nearly 400 local elementary schoolers got a taste of outer space during this year’s Kids’ Science and Engineering Day, an annual event that strives to foster a passion for STEM in the next generation of scientists.

Community restoration

Landscape architecture students are reimagining the future of the small towns of Malden and Pine City, Washington, where a devastating fire on Labor Day in 2020 destroyed much of the towns’ home and building infrastructure.

Ready, set, code

Over 300 young programmers from local high schools and universities were invited to try something new in developing applications from scratch during this year’s CrimsonCode Hackathon.
