Space Heaters on Campus
WSU discourages the use of portable space heaters inside university buildings due to fire hazards, energy inefficiency, and safety concerns. However, exceptions may be made if central heating is inadequate or out of order.
If a space heater must be used, it must meet WSU safety standards—be UL-listed, plugged directly into a wall outlet, and include safety features like tip-over shutoff and overheat protection.
