Campus Closures and Outages

General Outage Information

WSU Facilities Services maintains and supports all WSU buildings in Pullman.

If there is a service that requires maintenance or repair, Facilities Services will categorize it by urgency and added to the appropriate repair/renewal list.

Outages, active water leaks, utility disruptions, elevator failures, and hazards in pedestrian areas are prioritized first.

If an outage needs to occur, as required for the repair/maintenance of a service, an outage notice will be sent to those that have subscribed to receive facility notices (instructions below).

If the timing of the planned outage would cause significant impact, Facilities Services will attempt to reschedule the outage.

If you need to request a planned outage be rescheduled please respond directly to the outage notice, or call 509-335-9000.

In event of an unplanned outage, outage notices may be delayed.

In event of emergency dial 911.

Outages Notices

In Event of Power Loss

Please exercise caution in your emergency preparation planning around a power failure.
A power failure is one of the most likely emergency situations to occur.

In the event of a power failure, very few WSU buildings will have backup power. Paccar Environmental Technology Building is currently the only engineering building with limited backup power.

When the power goes out, power outlets do not work, hoods do not work, the air systems shut down, and elevators halt.

The only systems that consistently work in a power failure are emergency lights, fire alarms, and emergency fire sprinklers.

Information Technology Outage

If there is an IT outage, such as email, phone, or networking disruption please contact Voiland College IT at 509-335-6773 or support@wsu.edu.  You can also contact WSU ITS at 509-335-help or cougtech@wsu.edu.

Campus Delay or Closure

If there is a campus delay or closure, weather alert, or campus safety event taking place, information will be posted at the WSU Safety Alert Website.  You can sign up to receive phone and text message alerts within the myWSU portal.
