You only get one shot to make a first impression, and less than 30 seconds to impress someone.  What you wear to an interview makes a lasting impression, so make sure you look presentable and professional.

Wear clothing that are clean, pressed and business-like. In most cases, “business-like” translates to a suit. Women can wear a suit with either skirt or slacks. If you are uncertain about what to wear to an interview, review your interview invitation email for information, such as “business causal” or “casual” interview wear.

DO

Wear Clothing That is Clean, Pressed and Businesslike
In most cases, “businesslike” translates to a suit.  However, women can wear a suit with either skirt or slacks.
Wear a Simple, Classic Outfit
Simple, classic outfits win over “fashion” references, as it is not over-the-top and heavy on attention.
Eliminate Distractions
Before the interview, completely turn off your electronics to prevent any distractions or disturbances while the interview is in session.
Pay Attention to Detail
Skirts should be just above the knee when seated and not too tight.  Men should wear a plain undershirt underneath their dress shirt.

DON’T

Wear Revealing Clothing
Avoid sleeveless clothing, spaghetti straps, low-cut blouses, unbuttoned dress shirts or bare midriffs.
Chew Gum
Chewing gum can come off as very unprofessional, as it can be distracting and noisy.  Bring breath mints instead, if needed.
Over Accessorize
Wear minimal jewelry, take out any facial piercings and cover any visible tattoos.
Go Heavy on Perfume/Cologne
Some people may have allergies or other sensitivities to strong scents, which can become harmful or a distraction.
