Hello Voiland College Pullman,

For those coming into Voiland College buildings you may have noticed it is getting warm, or in some cases hot.
WSU is providing cooling in rooms as occupants request it. This is not the normal process for Facilities Services, so thank you for your patience and understanding.

With many personnel working from home, many offices and labs are currently vacant. When the university transitioned buildings from heating to cooling they altered normal cooling patterns. The university is trying to capture the energy savings from not cooling areas as part of the budget reduction with minimal impact to building occupants. You’ll likely see an energy savings campaign begun soon with a theme around Cougs Helping Cougs – Save Energy & Save A Job.

Although tempting, please do not open windows. It changes the air balance in the buildings. Laboratories are kept at negative air pressure and hallways at positive pressure so that air in lab environments does not escape into hallways. Opening windows throws this balance off making it less safe for building occupants.

If it is getting unbearable, please call 335-9000 and ask them to cool the area you are using.
WSU is asking that you give them a bit more tolerance though, and help another Coug, if possible.

A few facility tidbits are also below for those that may need to use a Voiland College building:

Wishing you all a safe and wonderful weekend!
