Safety Training Is Required for All VCEA Employees & Volunteers
Training is required as directed by WSU SPPM 2.18, WSU SPPM 2.78 and VCEA Safety Policy (updated 8/01/2025). Employee training can be accessed through WSU HRS’s Learning Platform Percipio. Visitors, guests and volunteers can access training through Canvas. Please refer to the training requirements and access instructions below.

- Slips, Trips, and Falls (20m)
- Back Safety and Injury Prevention (20m)
- Emergency and Fire Preparedness (45m)
- Portable Fire Extinguisher Safety (25m)
- Personal Protective Equipment Fundamentals (15m)
- Office Ergonomics (15m)
- Asbestos Awareness (20m)
- University Laboratory Safety – Working Safely (20m)
All Voiland College employees and volunteers are required to take the above safety courses a minimum of once every five years, indifferent of position or work location.
Lab Safety Courses Required to Work in a Lab/Hazard Environment
- University Laboratory Safety – Analyzing Chemical Hazards (20m)
- University Laboratory Safety – Analyzing Physical Hazards (20m)
- University Laboratory Safety – Developing and Using Controls (20m)
- Risk Assessment (30m)
- PPE – Eye and Face Protection (25m)
- PPE – Hand Protection (25m)
If working within laboratories or environments with hazards VCEA employees, visitors, guests, and students are required to take the above safety courses, at minimum, every five years. If working in a laboratory or an environment with hazards, graduate students are required to take these courses every year. Other courses may also be necessary for the safety of lab personnel depending on risk. Please consult the lab’s Principle Investigator(s) for direction in obtaining additional training necessary for lab specific hazards.

How To Access Safety Training
WSU Employees
To access the mandatory training noted in the bullets above, as well as many other training and professional development courses, please refer to the Employee Safety Training Access (PDF) guide, or the steps located below:
- Click here to access The list of required courses
- OR – Visit the Skillsoft Percipio website and select, “Log on and Learn”.
- Login with you WSU Network ID and password.
- Search for the course name in the Precipio search bar, located at the top of the window. All course icons will have a crimson background with a white Cougar Head Logo.
Upon completing a training course (a score of 80% and above is required to pass) a certificate of completion will be awarded.
To view/download a completed training course, complete the following steps:
- Visit the Skillsoft Percipio website and select, “Log on and Learn”.
- Login with you WSU Network ID and password.
- Select your initials in the top right corner of the Skillsoft homepage, and then select “My Learning” from the drop-down menu.
- On the left side of the page click on “My Learning”.
- Scroll down to the “Achievements” section and click on “Certificates”.
- Choose the training course desired and click on link that says “Download”.
- A copy of the certificate will be downloaded. You can then choose to open, print, and/or save the file.
Students, Visitors, and Guests

Upon completing a training course (a score of 80% and above is required to pass) the trainee will be awarded a certificate of completion.
Frank Innovation Zone Safety Training (FIZ)
Training is required for those that wish to use the Frank Innovation Zone (FIZ) maker spaces, fabrication labs, and equipment. Please visit the FIZ website, or stop by Dana Hall 15, for more information.
