Aryan Dabiri.

Name: Aryan Dabiri

Expected Date of Graduation: Fall 2024

Major: Mechanical Engineering

High School / Hometown: Henry M. Jackson High School / Mill Creek, WA

Q: What made you decide to attend WSU? Why did you choose your major?

A: I chose to attend WSU because of the Pullman atmosphere, I love the energy and sense of community that comes with living here and experiencing all that has to come with it during my time as a student. I chose my major because I always had a strong affinity for airplanes, cars, and robots, and wanted to build them.

Q: What has been your favorite class or program that you’ve been involved with at WSU, and why?

A: My favorite class that I have been involved with here at WSU would be ME 212 with professor Nandita Biswas. Dynamics is typically one of the less enjoyed courses in ME curriculum, and that was my original belief before I took it. Nandita was truly one of the best professors I have ever had and sparked a great passion of the subject for me.

Q: Have you participated in any internships related to your field of study?

A: From May – August 2023, I was a 777/777X Galley and Galley Inserts Intern at the Boeing Company in Everett, WA. This internship gave me the lifechanging experiences, knowledge, and mentoring that have setup the foundation of my early engineering experience. In this internship I got the opportunity to design and test future technologies that may be used in the Galley of an airplane, as well as certifying current Galley Insert products.

Q: What can you recommend they do to succeed in your major or at WSU?

A: I recommend to all that seek to study engineering to just take things one day at a time. This major will push you in ways that you would never expect and things can get overwhelming fast. These are all just growing pains that will make you a better engineer. It is essential to utilize the amazing tutors, TA’s and professors on campus as well.

Q: What do you want to do with your degree after you graduate?

A: Upon graduating I would like to build my experience in the aerospace industry, growing up in the PNW I am lucky enough to have some of the best aerospace engineering happening right in my backyard.
