Regents Professor Anjan Bose will give the Distinguished Faculty Address today as part of this year’s weeklong Showcase event. WSU Insider featured a story on him.

Yong Wang, Vannessa Caballero, and Wenda Hu and their research team developed a catalyst that precisely positions cerium atoms to efficiently convert renewable ethanol into isobutene, advancing sustainable alternatives to petrochemical-based plastics and fuels.

The School of Design and Construction is celebrating the new Schweitzer Engineering Hall and the collaborative design and construction that went into it with an exhibition in the Carpenter Hall Gallery.

Connor Toulou won the VCEA Three-Minute Thesis Competition. We will be representing Voiland College at the WSU Three-Minute Finals on Wednesday.

April 3: Administrative Professional (AP) Contribution Awards Nominations Due

These awards honor Administrative Professionals who have made exceptional contributions to Washington State University and to their respective areas or units. Each recipient will receive a $1000 award. Nominations are due April 3.

Mar. 28: Kids’ Science and Engineering Day

Join us for a day of hands-on fun at the 17th annual Kids’ Science and Engineering Day, hosted by the WSU Society of Women Engineers! Explore interactive STEM activities, experiments, engineering challenges, and demonstrations at Sloan and Dana Hall on WSU Pullman’s campus, designed for children K–5.

Harold Frank Engineering Entrepreneurship Program – Apply by Apr. 13

Applications for the Fall 2026 cohort of the Harold Frank Engineering Entrepreneurship Program are now open! Scholarships available! WSU’s Harold Frank Engineering Entrepreneurship Institute is a multidisciplinary program for junior and senior students who are interested in technological entrepreneurship.

Apr. 10: VCEA 2026 Student Excellence Awards

The VCEA Student Excellence Awards recognize outstanding sophomores, juniors, seniors and grad students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, service, and meaningful contributions to the college community.

Apr. 17: $5,000 VCEA – ESFCOM Grant Program Applications Due

The VCEA – ESFCOM Spring 2026 Grant Program offers up to $5,000 to support the preparation and submission of a grant proposal to a federal granting agency during the 2026-2027 cycle. Funds may be used for PI salary support for grant writing, travel, equipment, or supplies, or undergraduate or graduate research assistance (per HR guidelines). The program is open to tenure-track and tenured faculty in VCEA and ESFCOM. Application Instructions: submit a one-page project overview and objectives (formatted as an NSF Project Summary or NIH Specific Aims page) by 5:00 pm on April 17, 2026 to christina.mccloy@wsu.edu.

Apr. 17: WAZZU Car Reveal 

Wazzu Racing is one of the largest engineering clubs at the WSU Pullman campus. Each year, members of the team design and build a formula-style race car, which is then taken to international competitions to compete against other universities. On Friday, April 17, from 5–7 p.m. in the CUB Junior Ballroom, the club will host an event showcasing the new race car for this year.  

May 6: DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program Applications Due

The 2026 DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program (SCGSR) is accepting applications! This is a great opportunity for PhD students to complete part of their thesis research at a DOE lab.
