Each year outstanding Teaching Assistants (TA) and Research Assistants (RA) are recognized at the Voiland College Student Excellence Awards.

Nomination Guidelines and Eligibility
- For each school or department, submit nominations for outstanding student awards in each of the following categories:
- TA: the nominee may be a graduate or undergraduate student – two categories
- RA: the nominee must be a graduate student
- The Teaching Assistant (TA) awards are for students (graduate or undergraduate) who have gone above and beyond the expectations of a typical TA. Submit a name and a letter of support for each nominee. Each school or department may only submit one (1) TA nomination for each category listed below.
- Grading/Office Hour Support
- primarily a grader or hold office hours to work with students in the class
- Teaching/Instruction
- providing more formal instruction, for example, teaching or instructing either during a lab section or during the class

- The Researcher Award (RA) is for a graduate student who has done exceptional research over the past year as demonstrated by creative and scholarly work. This award is open to all graduate students in good standing. Each school or department may submit only one (1) RA nomination.
- This nomination should consist of a brief statement (no more than one (1) page in length) that summarizes relevant research, publications, presentations, measures of impact, etc., as well as a declaration of acceptable academic standing. A brief letter of support from the student’s advisor is also required.
