I am pleased to share that Steve Saunders will serve as the Associate Dean for Student Success in the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture, effective July 1.
Steve brings a strong and well-recognized record of excellence in teaching, research, and student mentorship. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, one of the most prestigious honors for early-career faculty. In addition, he has been honored with the Reid Miller Excellence in Teaching Award and multiple Outstanding Instructor awards in the Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering.
Throughout the span of his 13-year career at WSU, Steve has consistently demonstrated a deep dedication to students through his teaching, mentorship, and leadership. He is known for creating engaging learning environments, supporting students across diverse backgrounds, and building strong connections that help students persist and thrive.
I am confident that Steve will build on the strong foundation of our student success efforts and lead this important work with clarity, compassion, and purpose. His experience, combined with his commitment to student achievement and belonging, positions him well to advance our goals in student recruitment, retention, academic, and career success.
