Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture Naming Celebration

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to thank all of you who joined in last week’s joyous Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture naming celebration. What a great event!

The showers just missed us, and it was a glorious evening to celebrate a historic moment for the college and for WSU.

While it was fun to have Butch and the Cougar marching band, I was most pleased to see the amazing displays from more 40 student clubs at the celebration, and more than 600 of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends in attendance. I was exceedingly proud to introduce our honored guests to our students and faculty and to show them the hands-on opportunities and strong community that make our college outstanding. Many of you were wearing your new Voiland College t-shirts. I really enjoy seeing those red Voiland shirts all over campus now!

Congratulations to our student club display competition winners. They include RoboSub of the Palouse (best hands-on demonstration), RC Baja (most visually appealing), and Robotics Club (most engaging display). An honorable mention also goes to the Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Aerospace Club, who was also called out for each of these categories.

I want to personally thank each of you for your participation, including the student clubs listed below. I am so excited to move forward with you into the future with our new name. As I said at the event, the Voiland name stands for excellence, vision, accountability, and integrity. Whether it is our eminent faculty members who are addressing critical global challenges with their research, our engaged students who graduate work ready on day one, or our accomplished alumni who are directly impacting the economy and improving people’s lives, we in the Voiland College are passionate about excellence, and we’re proud to provide a caring community that gives students the chance to succeed.

Thank you for your hard work that contributes to our success.

Sincerely,
