Safety Reminders

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to all of those who have already taken our required online safety trainings. I would like to remind you that all paid faculty, staff, and time-slip students in the college need to take the trainings and that successful completion is required to ensure future administrative support, request processing, and laboratory access.

If you haven’t yet, please take these online trainings as soon as possible.

I want to thank you all for the hard work that has been done to improve safety culture here in the Voiland College. I’m proud of the work that we are doing to improve safe conditions and procedures throughout the college – in our buildings, offices, classrooms, and, especially, our laboratories. Ensuring the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is always a top priority.

Due to your efforts, and those of the Voiland College Safety Committee, our college was recognized with a safety award at WSU’s recent Safety Fair. Our commitment to safety is reverberating throughout the university, and I’m proud that our college has taken a leadership role in improving safety culture. The members of this committee have worked to make critically important changes without creating undue burden.

As the holiday season approaches, I want to remind you that WSU Pullman will be closed November 28 and 29th, December 25 and 26th, and January 1. Buildings are locked during this time although buildings will be accessible by key or using card swipes. There will be reduced holiday operations between December 23-December 31, and most university operations and services will be unavailable during this time. Please remember not to prop exterior doors open during this time, and if you see a door open, please close it. If you are locked out of your area, you can call WSU Safety Services at 509-335-1380 to gain entry with proper identification.

Finally, please travel safely to your destinations for a joyful holiday season. Please check road conditions before you go, know how to drive on snow and ice (PDF), and travel with an emergency supply kit (PDF).

Go Cougs!
