VCEA Budget Update

Dear Colleagues:

I wanted to share a few encouraging updates following last week’s Board of Regents meeting.

First, I am very pleased that the WSU Board of Regents approved our new Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree program. This represents an important milestone for the college and reflects both the growing demand for AI expertise and the outstanding work of our faculty in developing innovative, forward-looking academic programs.

I am also happy to share that the approved FY27 operating budget positions us to move forward without reductions in VCEA. While challenges across higher education certainly remain, this outcome reflects the university’s confidence in our college and the important role we play in advancing WSU’s mission and future growth.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to our school directors, department chairs, faculty, and staff who contributed thoughtful planning, careful stewardship, and significant effort throughout the budget process. These discussions were not always easy, but your professionalism, collaboration, and unwavering focus on our students made a meaningful difference.

I also want to thank everyone who supported our undergraduate recruitment and outreach efforts this year. Strong student interest and enrollment helped strengthen our position and underscored the continued value and reputation of a Voiland College education. Whether you participated in preview events, engaged with prospective students and families, supported communications and outreach activities, or mentored current students, your contributions were instrumental to our success.

As we conclude the academic year, I hope each of you has an opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy a well-deserved summer break.

Thank you again for your continued dedication and all that you do for our college and students.

Best regards,
