Water Research Center Small Grant Program Call for Proposals by April 8

The State of Washington Water Research Center is accepting research proposals for submission under Section 104(b) of the Water Resources Research Act. The center will fund two or more proposal at up to $30,000 each for research that fosters exploration of new ideas to address water problems or expand understanding of water-related phenomena; entry, education, and training of future scientists in water resource fields; and multidisciplinary research, and dissemination of research results to academic and non-academic audiences. The proposal submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 8.

Washington Research Foundation Info Session April 6

WRF supports groundbreaking translational research in life sciences and enabling technologies. This info session will cover both the WRF Postdoctoral Fellowship program, and the Technology Commercialization program. The Fellowships support exceptional researchers for three years at eligible institutions in Washington State and WRF welcomes applications starting in May 2022. The selected fellows can have a background in any STEM field, but preference will be given to applicants whose project proposals are in life sciences and enabling technologies. The Technology Commercialization program supports projects at Washington state research institutions that will lead to the commercial development of technology-based products. ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition June 26 – 29

The American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference and Exposition will host a student showcase poster session featuring projects from students at the high school, associates, bachelors, masters, doctoral and postdoctoral levels. All are welcome! Apply by March 30. There are a limited number of slots available on a first-come-first-served basis!

$250,000 ORAP Climate Change Hackathon May 11-12

Interdisciplinary ideas designed to address climate change will be the topic of a hackathon Washington State University is hosting in Spokane May 11-12.

The hackathon is being hosted by the Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships with support from the Center for Environmental Research, Education and Outreach, and the Office of Commercialization.

During the hackathon, one or two teams will be selected to receive a seed grant to develop their ideas into large interdisciplinary proposals. Up to $250,000 is available. Applications are due March 21 to participate in the event, which will take place at a yet to be determined off campus location.
