Dear Colleagues,
Happy End of Semester!
The last few weeks leading up to finals were filled with a buzz of activity for everyone, and now that class is out, I’m certain we will all welcome a return to a quieter, steadier pace that will allow us to rejuvenate, refresh, and refocus.
I want to thank everyone who completed the recent Dean’s Office Communications Survey. Your thoughtful feedback has given me a lot to digest and reflect upon, but one of the key takeaways from the surveys is your desire to see more direct face-to-face communications between the Dean’s Office and your units.
To that end, I will be working with the Dean’s Office team to schedule times to attend School and Departmental meetings during the fall semester. I am planning to share information on important university-wide issues. Survey feedback showed widespread interest in learning more about the budget situation, so that will be on all agendas. Additionally, as the meeting dates draw closer, you’ll have an opportunity to suggest additional topics that are important to you and your units. I’m looking forward to the conversations.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their hard work in completing another successful year for Voiland College. Upon seeing all of the happiness and joy on the faces of our students and their friends and families at our recent graduation ceremonies, it really showed me how, collectively, each of our individual efforts combine to make a profound, transformational difference in their lives. It makes me proud of each of you and proud to be your dean.
