Voiland College 2023-2028 Strategic Plan

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Voiland College has completed drafting its 2023-2028 Strategic Plan.

As most of you know, Voiland College faculty, staff, and students have been collectively working on this document over the course of the past few years through committee meetings, focus groups, and surveys to solicit ideas and feedback on what goals and objectives our college should focus the most on in the next few years.

Rather than repeating elements already captured in the WSU Strategic Plan or attempting to encompass everything that we do that is part of our mission, Voiland College’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan instead will act as a “road map” to help us reach our goals in four crucial areas: Student Success and Belonging; Research, Creativity, and Engagement; Employee Development, Wellness, and Culture; and Infrastructure.

Throughout the planning process, Voiland College – and the country for that matter – faced many challenges, including a pandemic, a recession, inflation, and a “new normal.” This experience has taught us that we need to be flexible, reflective, and capable of adapting to change to be successful. For strategic planning purposes, that means that no plan is ever “final,” and we will continue to update Voiland College’s Strategic Plan when necessary as we continue further down the road to achieve our goals.

To be clear, this document does not conclude Voiland College’s strategic planning efforts.

Under the leadership of associate deans Krishnamoorthy Sivakumar, Haluk Beyenal and Shelley Pressley; Director of Facility Operations & Safety Dar Neunherz and Director of Development Bridget Pilcher; and Director of Administrative Services Denise Faerber, four cross-disciplinary teams are being established to continue our strategic planning work.

I want to thank everyone who has taken part in this thoughtful process. Your input, and the input of many others, helped define some of the key objectives and milestones which will help guide Voiland College’s Strategic Planning Implementation teams as they continue to identify and develop the necessary strategies and tactics that will chart our course over the next few years. Look for updates from each of these groups and ways you can continue to be involved in the weeks to come.

Go Cougs!
