WSU researchers led by Néstor O. Pérez-Arancibia have developed a robotic bee that can fly fully in all directions.

Jennifer Adam was interviewed by Growing Produce about snowpack forecasting.

Mona Ghandi’s project, “Stomata: Optimizing Building Energy Retrofits Through Cyber-Physical Adaptive Spaces, Artificial Intelligence, And Occupants’ Biosignals” is a winner of the International 2023 Design Educates Awards, Responsive Design Category, receiving a Gold Prize in Responsive Design. Another of Ghandi’s projects, “Parasympathy: A Space of Empathy and Active Compassion” received the Bronze Prize in Responsive Design.

Lloyd Smith offered Cougs suggestions on how to celebrate National Paper Airplane Day.

Katy Ayers received an Udall Undergraduate Scholarship award.


Facilities Modernization – May Update

Washington State Gov. Jay Inslee signed the 2023–25 capital and operating budgets, allotting millions in funding for WSU programs and initiatives across the state. $40 million in state support will match philanthropic gifts towards Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture’s Schweitzer Engineering Hall.

HS Transportation Summer Camp – Speakers Needed

WSU will host a PacTrans-WSDOT high school transportation summer camp July 24-29. Faculty and graduate students who are doing research related to transportation systems, including in sensing, control, data analytics, energy, environment, or urban planning, are invited to participate as speakers or instructors with compensation provided.
