Susmita Bose was elected to the board of directors for the Washington State Academy of Sciences.

WSU Insider featured a story on the Gerontechnology-Focused Student Undergraduate Research Experience program co-directed by Diane Cook and Bryan Minor.

Kristina Borrman, Jaime Rice, Hongtao Dang, Phil Gruen, Jolie Kaytes, and Ayad Rahmani were among Washington State University faculty who were awarded 2023 Transformation Change Initiative (TCI) grants for advancing inclusion, diversity, equiBty, and access to impact teaching and learning system-wide.

Department of Defense workers as well as Washington State University and partner university students from throughout the Pacific Northwest recently participated in the VICEROY Northwest Institute for Cybersecurity Education and Research’s (CySER) summer workshop on the Pullman campus.

Lloyd Smith was interviewed by FOX 51 News about the science of baseball bats.

A student team led by Jake Leachman received the Russell B. Scott Memorial Award for Best Application at the recent Cryogenic Engineering Conference.

Submit your Letter of Intent for the Commercialization Gap Fund Awards — Due July 21

The Office of Commercialization at WSU is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Commercialization Gap Fund (CGF) awards. This program awards up to $50,000 to WSU researchers from across the entire university system who demonstrate how their work will have a significant economic impact on society.

To be considered for this award, interested researchers need to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) no later than Friday, July 21, at 5 p.m. Visit our Commercialization Gap Fund web page for more details.

Outdoor Heat Exposure

The Department of Labor and Industries updated Outdoor Heat Exposure requirements, with new rules becoming effective July 17. The rules apply to all employees working outdoors for 15 minutes or more in a 60‑minute period once temperatures reach 80 degrees. To review the new requirements, see EH&S’ Heat Exposure web page.
