This fall, Distinguished Graduate Research Program graduate students Charlotte Wertz and Benjamin McCornack will work with Washington State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory scientists and engineers through the WSU-PNNL Joint Institutes.

Norbert Kruse was interviewed by Chemistry World about WSU’s recent breakthrough discovery of the Fischer-Tropsch reaction.

Blue Origin CEO Bob Smith visited with WSU Pullman students last week.

WSU Tri-Cities computer science students Christian Penick, James Thomas Brittain, Dietrich Zacher, and Danyil Kovalchuk took first place in their division at the DUB Hacks hackathon competition at the University of Washington.

$2500 Frank Engineering and Entrepreneurship Scholars – Apply by Oct. 29

WSU’s Harold Frank Engineering Entrepreneurship Institute is a multidisciplinary program made up of junior and senior engineering, communications, and business students who are interested in technological entrepreneurship. Working in interdisciplinary teams, students learn to manage uncertainty, design, perfect their presentation skills, work with real fiscal and technical constraints, and develop technologies to solve real problems.

WSU Enrollment Summit, Nov. 1–2

Summit topics will range from recruitment, data, financial aid, technology, national trends, retention and the state of higher education in the enrollment context.

PNNL-WSU Distinguished Graduate Research Program – Priority Deadline Nov. 5

Applications are now open for the The PNNL-WSU Distinguished Graduate Research Program, which has a priority deadline of Nov 5 (hard deadline Feb 4).

Employee Excellence Award – Nominations Due Dec. 6

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023–24 President’s Employee Excellence Awards. The award is presented annually to recognize outstanding contributions by WSU administrative professionals and classified employees. Award recipients each receive $2,500 and will be recognized at the annual Showcase event to be held in the spring of 2024.

12 pm Tuesday: WSU Pullman Alert Test

The WSU Office of Emergency Management will be conducting the fall semester test of the WSU Alert Pullman system on the Pullman campus Tuesday, Oct. 24, at noon.

Faculty, staff, and students associated with the Pullman campus who have signed up for emergency notifications will receive text messages, phone calls, emails, and desktop alerts on select computers which will be clearly identified as a test.
