Oct. 10, 2017 Voiland College This Week

From the Dean

It’s Research Week at WSU! There are great opportunities each day to learn something new, meet other Cougs excited about research, or discover programs designed to enable research success. See the full list of details on the WSU Research website.

Research activity in Voiland College has increased significantly over the past decade. Our research expenditures, the number of Ph.D. students trained, and our patent disclosures have all more than doubled. With new faculty and new facilities, we’re on pace to see continued record growth. WSU’s Office of Research and Voiland College’s Associate Dean for Research, Dave Field, are here to help you succeed in your research activities. Take advantage of what they have to offer.

Go Cougs!

Safety Tip of the Week

Who is responsible for purchasing safety glasses?

All research groups with active external projects should use funds from those projects to purchases the required personal protection equipment for lab personnel.

Each school is responsible for ensuring that students in the undergraduate laboratories has the necessary safety glasses. This can be accomplished by adding safety glasses to the list of items required for a class at the beginning of class (and giving students information on how to purchase them), or by purchasing them directly and distributing to students.

For any laboratories that don’t fall in to these two categories, please speak with your school director for support.

For more safety information, contact Environmental Health and Safety at ehs@wsu.edu.
