Assefaw Gebremedhin will moderate a panel discussion titled “Artificial Intelligence – Jobs of the Future” at the NCESD and NCW Tech Alliance AI Expo at 10 AM Thursday, August 12. The AI Expo is open to the business community and general public to attend, virtually, free-of-charge.

Xianming Shi has been named as interim chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Shi also received a Chloride Reduction Leadership Award at the 2021 Salt Symposium.

Alla Kostyukova has been named as interim director of the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering.

Phil Gruen is interviewed in the latest issue of Washington State Magazine about the contributions of Chinese pioneers to the building of the Pacific Northwest.

Arda Gozen and Susmita Bose are featured in the latest issue of Washington State Magazine.

Returning to WSU: Fall Semester Town Hall Town Hall August 18

WSU leaders are hosting a virtual town hall Aug. 18 focused on the upcoming fall semester.

August Faculty Trainings on Canvas, Panopto, VoiceThread, Perusall

This fall semester, WSU is switching from Blackboard to Canvas. Academic Outreach and Innovation (AOI) is ready to support instructors with a variety of trainings available in August to help faculty get acquainted with Canvas.

Register for AOI trainings now! In addition to the trainings, Instructional Designers are available for on-demand support via Zoom on Mondays through Thursdays from 9-3, and will begin staffing the on-demand room on Fridays again on August 6. Learn more on our on-demand support page.

You can also review additional resources and guides for transitioning content from Blackboard and getting started in Canvas. These periodic communications provide timely and helpful information. Check them often.
