Encourage Students to Audition for the College Tour

Do you have students who exemplify Cougar pride? Are there leaders, athletes, researchers, and/or global citizens in your classes? Is there someone who comes to mind who has overcome adversity and used the campus community and resources to ensure their success?

Please encourage your outstanding students to audition for The College Tour is a TV series on Amazon Prime that tells the story of colleges and universities around the world.​ While the episode will primarily focus on the undergraduate experience, all students are welcome to audition.

The application deadline is Sunday, January 28. Casting will be done on an ongoing basis so please do not wait to apply! Students who want help preparing their 2-minute audition are invited to drop by Dana Hall, room 143 on January 25, anytime between 3 to 7 pm. Spring Faculty Peer-Observation Project – Apply by Feb. 9

A new Washington State University professional-development opportunity for all faculty — the Peer Observation and Co-Mentoring Program — is accepting applications for spring now through Feb. 9.

ASEE PNW Section Conference March 27-29

The 2024 ASEE Pacific Northwest Section Conference will be held on March 27-29 in Bozeman, MT. This year’s theme, Indigenizing Engineering Education, embodies the integral connection that the indigenous community has had with our conference host, Montana State University. A robust and informative event is promised for all who attend!

The deadline to submit an abstract has been extended to Tuesday, January 16th. Please consider submitting an abstract for a presentation, poster, full paper, or workshop proposal. Additional information can be found in the Call for Papers and Author’s Kit.

Be Safe Cougs

Annual Required WSU Employee Training

Is your safety training up to date? Accessibility, Cybersecurity Awareness, Hazing Prevention, Ethics in Public Service, and Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Prevention are a few of the trainings that all WSU employees are required to take every year. Please visit the HRS website to see and access the trainings.

Learn to Support Cougs in Crisis

We can all help support mental health in our campus community. Learn how to identify Cougs in crisis and connect them with support by signing up for a training with WSU Health Promotion. Sessions are available for all WSU locations.

Campus Connect

This 2-hour suicide prevention training program is offered free of charge for all WSU staff and students. Participants learn: Statistics and facts about college student suicide; How to ask if someone is feeling suicidal; Appropriate referrals; Active listening, communication, and relationship building skills.

Mental Health First Aid

Participants in this training learn about symptoms, crisis response, and active listening skills to support someone who is experiencing a mental health disorder such as: Depression and anxiety; Trauma; Psychosis; Eating disorders; Substance abuse. Mental Health First Aid is free for WSU Pullman, Global, and Vancouver campus students.
